I am so excited to finally be doing a review of this bag because I have been eyeing it for a while now and have been dying to try it out. Let me tell you it does not disappoint! I love that it has 3 different carrying options, including backpack style! I love the high quality zippers because they are so smooth and never get stuck (pet peeve of mine with bags). The leather is genuine and so soft and gets softer with time. Lily Jade bags all come with an awesome organizational insert to keep everything super organized. Then to top it all off it looks like a purse and I will totally be using it even after my kids are out of diapers.
It comes in this nice dust cover and when I am using a different bag it's nice to have this cover to store it in.
I love that the handles are long enough to actually wear this bag comfortably over your shoulder. I have found myself using these handles more than I thought I would. I usually go for cross-body with the messenger strap or back pack to be hands free, but surprisingly the tote straps are a great length and I don't ever feel like the bag is going to slip off my shoulder.
There are 4 pockets on the front of the bag and I like to use them for stuff like my phone, keys, lip products, receipts, gum and any other smaller type items.
I love that the logo is stamped into the bag. It makes it feel high end and I dunno... I just like it:) The leather itself is pretty easy to take care of, but I am also careful with it because I know I can't really get it wet to wipe it down. I sprayed the bag when I very first got it with Collonil weather stop that Lily Jade sells and I feel like that has helped it stay clean and dirt free... I think that's what it's called.. anyways it's on the Lily Jade website if you are looking to purchase one of their leather bags.
The tassel is really pretty and I love love the jade beads! My only complaint it that sometimes the tassel falls down on the handle and hangs way below the bag and looks a little silly. I just make sure the tassel is on tight before I put it on.
The zippered pocket on the back is a nice size and I find it to be a good spot for my pen, tide to go pen, checkbook, things like that. The messenger strap also converts into the backpack straps with these three loops. I was really nervous that this bag was going to be really uncomfortable back pack style, but I am pleasantly surprised that it feels pretty good on my back and my shoulders feel fine. This bag makes for a super cute and non-traditional type of backpack and I'm loving it!
This is the inside without the organizational insert. There are two slip pockets on the front and a nice longer zippered pocket on the back. The key clip is a nice feature as well, but I mainly put my keys in one of the front three pockets. The material that is used for the inside is so so so wonderful! It's like a soft silky smooth material and feels so luxurious! Plus since it's red it makes everything in the bag nice and easy to see.
Here is the bag with the baby bag insert. It seriously has like 20 different pockets to organize all baby's things. I was worried that there wouldn't be enough room for Ryder's bottle in this bag because there are no outside bottle pockets, but the insert has plenty of room for everything and it keeps it all so organized.
If I want to take my cute red bag out on a date I will take out this insert and give it to Grandma while she is watching the kids, that way I get to use my bag more often and all of the kids stuff is right there for the babysitter if they need it. I also love this insert because I like to change my bags up depending on the occasion ( I know I'm a crazy bag lady) and this insert makes doing that so simple! So I pretty much love it!
The bag also comes with a nice roll up changing pad that fits nicely in the side of the insert.
The price is a downside, but it's actually a reasonable price for a real leather bag. Real leather could be a downside for some people because of the maintenance, but leather will last a lot longer than fake leather, so it's a toss up:) Overall this bag is pretty dang awesome! It's so classy and so functional, which makes it one of my favs out of the bags I have had for sure.
